Historic Saltaire Village with its historic houses originally built for the mill works at Salts Mill which now houses an Art Gallery and hosts various exhibitions as well as a collection of Shops including a large book shop & popular Restaurant with beautiful Roberts Park just a short walk away over the River Aire and the Leeds - Liverpool Canal, is a great place to while away a few hours on any day..... First - Roberts Park....A great park for the family, sit on the grass in the sunshine with a picnic and let the kids run around and have fun or visit the cafe in the park under the pavilion for a drink and a snack. Bring a ball, scooter, some games and sit, enjoy and have some family fun for a while. Take a walk around the park and see the recently restored shelters and constructed band stand which you'll often find is used by local music groups in the summer months as well as the beautiful tree lined promenade and some beautiful flower. There's also a good sized children's play area with a variety of play equipment and clambering activity frames as well as a small skate park. Also watch out for the friendly local grey squirrels running around in the park. All this in a stunning location at the side of the River Aire with views of some of Saltaire's magnificent buildings on one side and views of Baildon moor on the other side. Often a variety of events are held in the park throughout the year including Saltaire Festival & the Dragon Boat Races. Gift Ideas....
