Haworth - Best know for being home of The Brontes and the Bronte family connections but also has it's own unique olde world charm with some stunning countryside surrounding the town. Haworth is also a location that appears in many films past and present with film crews regularly appearing on the main street and surrounding areas for films like The Railway Children. And it is also host to a number of events throughout the years from Haworth 1940's event, Haworth Steampunk Events to more traditional events like Halloween and Christmas events. Haworth is a village that welcomes tourist all year round.... Haworth's Cobbled Main Street is steeped in History and proud of it's Bronte Connections as well as it's location in Yorkshire. Visit it's shops on the Main Street for Vintage items, Bronte Themed Gifts & Yorkshire Gifts, you can also take a break in one of the coffee shops from Modern tea rooms to a 40's themed Tea Room. Or if you're looking form something a bit stronger there are a number of local traditional pubs for you to try. Take a look in the church at the top of main street and if you're lucky catch one of the organist playing a few hymns. This is a working church so you can take in a service and see the occasional wedding there. Bronte Parsonage Museum is also another location here to visit (charges apply) especially for those interested in the history of Haworth and The Brontes.... At the bottom end of Main Street you'll find Haworth park which is a pleasant place to visit especially if you've brought children with you. And at the very bottom of Haworth you'll find the Keighley Worth Valley Railway. Here's a chance to take a ride on a steam railway (and sometimes old diesels) along the Worth Valley Line. Hop on and off at the different stops and visit the railway museum along the line or grab a bite to eat at the dining car situated at Oxenhope station. Whilst you're here why not checkout the Guide to Top Withens and thought to be the inspiration to Wuthering Heights. See the Nearby Places to Visit guides below... Facilities... Haworth is an old village basically built on the side a large steep hill and isn't too friendly for mobility challenged people. Main Street is cobbled as well as other parts of Haworth's main historic tourist areas as well as the route from the KWVR station up to Main Street. If you need to avoid too much hill climbing use the Bronte Parsonage Museum Car Park to access the museum and the top of Main Street but it's cobbles again on the way to main street with its cobbles. If you want the Railway, use the car park at the side of the station with easier access to the station and platform. And Finally.... Have fun, enjoy the walk, take photos, please be respectful to others and take your rubbish home. And when you get a moment please come back to my blog and let me know what you thought of this guide.
