The Fantastic Moorland Views from Top Withens is said to have inspired the Bronte Novel - Wuthering Heights and you can visit this location any day you want to, and for FREE.
Take yourself for a wander, let the kids run around, take the dog for a walk (kept on a lead, there maybe sheep around).... How to Find Top Withens - The Inspiration for the Bronte Novel - Wuthering Heights
There are a couple of routes to get to Top Withens - Wuthering Heights, so it depends on where you are coming from and how fit you are and how far you want to walk.
But because my Places to Visit guides are for people who may want a stroll than a days hiking, I'm going to share with you the shortest route to Top Withens from parking your vehicle. On HOT days, make sure you bring cold water drinks with you as well as hats, sun cream, and clothing to protect you from the sun as you are exposed to the sun with no shade for quite a long while. On wintry days, I advise a hot drinks flask, check the weather forecast for suitability, and wear/take suitable winter wet weather clothing as it can be quite wild on the moorland if you get caught in wind, rain or snow. Facilities....
There are no facilities at the parking location or anywhere on the walking route.
No Toilets or Shops here, If you will be needing supplies or toilets I suggest you stop at Haworth village a few minutes drive away from here. There is however a local public house in Stanbury that you can make a visit to when its open.
Parking...
There are 2 possible spots for parking here, both are free, but space is very limited and can become very busy on warmer days.
If you have come from the direction of Haworth, as you leave Stanbury village, on the left you will see a little slip road with a couple of parking spots on it. Turn left here onto Back Lane which is a small narrow country lane and drive towards the end. 1. At the end of the lane there are 2 openings, one for a farmhouse and another (Private Road) to enter the moorland. Park in the area before these if there is a suitable spot to do so. Do NOT park across these gates, both gates are used. 2. You can also use the spaces on the slip road that you passed or park at the road side on the main road at the bottom of Back Lane This is the next nearest available parking area if the closer unofficial parking area is already full. Please don't park across gates into fields, even if it doesn't look like they are in use and don't park your vehicle where it may make any roads too narrow for tractors with big trailers to get through (you may come back to find a farmer has decided to move your vehicle for you).
If this or my other Places to Visit guides have helped you, you can show your appreciation to a small independent business and make it possible for me to keep spending time visiting and posting these location here for you to enjoy and visit just by buying me a coffee.

Travelling by car... Set your Satnav for BD22 0HD this is Main Street Stanbury. If you have parked at the start of Back Lane (no2 above), walk up the narrow lane watching for vehicles until you reach the unofficial roadside parking at the end (no1 above). Enter the moorland past the Private Road sign (the driveway on the right), it's ok, its a Public Footpath. The private road starts to climb up, keep going on the path to the that heads to the right and straight on, as it passes a house on the moorland. You need to continue to follow the moorland track straight on, keep walking and eventually you will see the building at Top Withens in the distance as seen in the Top Withens Haworth (No3) Print above. Keep going and eventually you will arrive there. Return the same way to your vehicle or you can extend your walk by also visit Bronte Falls which is in a similar area by following other tracks. If you're up for quite a hike, you can also get to Penistone Hill and even Haworth Village which are a considerable walk away from here. The walking tracks are actually marked on Google Maps, if you zoom in, you can follow these and walk/navigate to these other locations if you wish to do so. Give yourself a couple of hours to stroll up to Top Withens, have an explore, and return to your vehicle. Remember, don't get carried away and walk too far and then struggle to return to your vehicle.
